Welcome Friend! Welcome Stranger!

Welcome friend !Welcome stranger! Do come in out of the weather! We have a lot of it here and none of it sunny, bright or balmy. Mind you that's just how the the Darkhousians ,Quarterers, Quartroons as they like to call themselves depending on their whim or allegiance, like it.

There's very few here you might describe as having a 'sunny' disposition . All manner of other dispositions certainly and a good many that if dispositions were insects and I were entomologist I'd have to say were entirely new species ...
Anyway you don't want to hear about all that now, you've barely wiped your feet on the doormat ….err if you wouldn't mind, the street gets everywhere if you're not careful, you know what they're like when they wander off somewhere, before you know it they've turned into a winding little lane or highway over stocked with highwaymen and worse . Or perhaps you don't know, you haven't bee here long after all .Do you know, I caught a street only the other day that had wandered in through the pantry window and out of a fifth story bedroom window and right into a low lying psychomorphic smog bank. I was only just in time to grab the cat before he wandered out of reach and he's barely recovered from the last time as it is. Mind you I do think the extra legs rather suit him and he can certainly give some of the spiders a good run for their money.
Here let me take your coat and umbrella, and galoshes... Goodness, you've certainly come prepared! Is that your wagon and horses?A fair few supplies there I see, very sensible, you'll need them. The Quarter is far easier to arrive in than to leave and it's not an easy journey either way by any stretch of the imagination as I'm sure you're all to well aware by the look of you. This place has a mind of it's own and don't you be thinking  I'm exaggerating either. You're not thinking that at all are you,I can tell by the expression on your face. Not to worry, you're safe enough in here...
I'll explain all later. I'll have old Mr Quarterpast stable your wagon and horses, and Mrs Tuppenceworth will, I'm sure put together a fine supper for you and get you settled for the night and then perhaps you'd like to hear more about Darkhouse Quarter and how I found myself marooned here all those years ago, yes? I'll get the fire going in the study...oh and you must tell me all about your journey here too, quite an adventure I should imagine...
